• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

    I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

    For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

    From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

As another Storm season approaches I thought I would make up a list of free sites, for those without a server or webpage avaliable, were you can upload your chase videos. Upload and download speeds vary across the different sites.

* File stays online forever (unlimited downloads) unless it has not been accessed for awhile (unknown time-frame)
* Must wait for a countdown to end before beginning downloads
* FAST speeds

* 1 GB file-size limit
* Files stay online for 7 days or 25 downloads (whichever comes first)
* Files are instantly accessible for download
* Ability to resume downloads using YSIGet

Megaupload

* 250 MB file-size limit
* File stays online forever (unlimited downloads) unless it has not been accessed for 30 days
* Displays file upload progress, including percentage done, speed, and time remaining
* Must wait for a countdown to end before beginning downloads

RapidShare

* 100 MB file-size limit
* File stays online forever (unlimited downloads) unless it has not been accessed for 30 days
* Must wait for a countdown to end before beginning downloads
* Limits the number downloads within the hour

Putfile

* 10 MB file-size limit (Quick Upload)
* 25 MB file-size limit (Free Account)
* 2 MB file-size limit (images)
* Files deleted after 6 months of inactivity

Savefile

* No bandwidth limit
* Files deleted after 10-14 days of inactivity

FileFactory

* 1.5 GB file-size limit through e-mail
o Files deleted after 7 days or 25 downloads

11MBit.in

* 20 MB file-size limit
* Inactive files automatically deleted (unknown time-frame)
* No partial archive files allowed

Dropload

* Files deleted after 7 days
* Account required for uploading

FileFront

Hope this helps some of you out!
Cheers Steve

Thank you for the detailed list!

A couple warnings though:

-"Free" file hosts have a habit of dropping off the earth with little or no notice, so I wouldn't keep anything there that's too important or that hasn't been backed up somewhere else. In some cases the free image storage area can also bring down the site if a lot of "Fark" type users are using the services as well.

- make sure you investigate whether or not your files are "open access" for everyone or not.. and whether this is suitable for you. I can't say for sure for all of the sites on the list, but I know a couple of them are intended for the user to "share" their material with the general populace.

I think common sense should prevail when it comes to what you want uploaded and people to use/see.

Rapidfile and Megaupload are what I use when I dont want to max out my own bandwith on my webpage with large files.
