I was glancing the Hazards Assessment and noticed that areas of the OH river valley up to the Great Lakes will expirence "extreme" heat next week. I haven't had time to look at the this region, but areas such as Denver who will be close to breaking the century mark and Minneapolis where it will reach the mid-90s while here in KC we will struggle to reach 85F. Maybe it is the very moist soil in the S Plains, but this area seems like we have been cooler than average. We have had one day over 90F this year, and it has been quite cool, but the major humidity doesn't help.
