Surprised nobody has mentioned this yet. Just talked to my friend in Tuscon and he said that many people are without water as pipes froze last night. He also said that there is almost no gas available to heat buildings because of the excessive use demanding more than was available.

Here is the Civil Emergency Message out for Southern AZ: http://forecast.weather.gov/wwamap/wwatxtget.php?cwa=twc&wwa=civil%20emergency%20message

Here is the weather story for Tucson with many of the records set last night: http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/FXC/wxstory.php?wfo=twc&img=3

Finally, here is the weather story for Phoenix: http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/FXC/wxstory.php?wfo=psr

Looks like another potentially record breaking cold night is in store for the region tonight. That ridge in the west will continue to allow the cold arctic air to funnel southward.
