• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Editing HD video?

Another point that might be useful to people reading this thread (who use Sony Vegas) is this one by David Poch.
Another program that I like to use is a plug in for Sony Vegas is Gear shift by Vasst. What it does it make proxy files from your AVCHD or HDV video so you can edit them in real time on a slower computer. After you make your edits you click one button to replace the proxy files with your HD media. It has worked well for me and well worth the $49.99. You can find it here: http://www.vasst.com/index.php?page...ategory_id=74&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=66

Adobe Premiere and Media Studio are good for editing. At least they was the best before 12 years.

If you are a MAC user then Final Cut Express or IMovie is the way to go period. Both are excellent products. I use them both depending on what type of project I am working on.

It's not bad for an entry HD camera.

What's the best way of pulling and burning the footage? I've looked around here and read some good things about TMPGEnc.

Unless you are really in love with the idea of spending $400-500 on video editing software, you really owe it to yourself to look at Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum (Pro Pack). For $87 (amazon price) you get a really powerful editing software (that does HD) along with video capture and burning. The Pro Pack also includes Sony Sound Forge. The software takes VST plug-ins (a lot of free ones are available). A fully functional trial version and downloadable Quick Start Guide is available from sonycreative.com. You can't really believe that it can be serious software, at that price, but it is. In addition, it also does basically "one button" publishing to YouTube.
