Does anybody have a driver for EasyCap that works with windows 7? I have my original disk, but it didn't install the capture driver properly.

Charles,

Run this search on Google and it seems there are instructions on Youtube for how to install the drivers for Windows 7 and links to where drivers can be found (or so it seems).

Easycap

Direct link to driver download: Driver

If you already did this and it proved unfruitful I apologize in advance.

Thanks,
Mark

Hey I never could get it to work well. The only solution I found was to try numerous free trail webcam splitting programs and when i finally found one that would register the easy cap's feed I bought the full version.

I did some more looking and I found this from a Microsoft support site where someone asked about drivers for the Easycap device. The link I posted above was for Windows 7 64 bit, but this may be what you need if you are on the 32 bit version.

This is from the Sabrent support site, who appear to make an Easycap device.

32 bit: http://sabrent.com/drivers2/USB-AVCPT-32bit-XP-Vista-Win7.zip

64 bit: http://sabrent.com/drivers2/USB-AVCPT-64bit-Vista-Win7.zip

I think this may be the better solution based on user posts and experience (from what I gather).

I posted at the same time as you earlier this morning Charles and it seems your friend pointed you to the same place I was looking at (Sabrent.com). All that matters is that your issue is resolved and it's working now.

Thanks for all the help. You don't realize how much software you actually use while chasing until you get a new laptop. I think I am all set now.

You got that right! I can feel your pain because over the last 2 or 3 weeks I installed an SSD in my old laptop with a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro, so I know what you mean. It takes a lot of time and effort tracking down drivers and reinstalling all of the programs a guy had on the old drive. The customizations I had with GRL3 and GRAE are what threw me a loop. I had tons of place, shape, and other files with my old setup, but I'm getting to the point now where I have it up to snuff on my new SSD drive.

I can't say enough about how much an SSD will improve your overall performance and computing experience. What a difference and it's really noticeable as far as boot up times and program launches are concerned.

Well, my fix was very short lived. I tried to test it again today and it was able to grab one image, but froze on it. I tried all the above drivers and nothing is working now.

You could try to uninstall the driver first and then reboot and let Windows reinstall it automatically. My last suggestion would be to go into Device Manager and delete the entry for the Easy Cap device, then reboot Windows and either reinstall the driver of your choice or let Windows do the dirty work for you and see how it goes. It could be corrupt after installing several different versions over the last few days. This is pure speculation though since I'm trying to help from a forum versus being there with you to see what's actually happening. Best of luck Charles, I hope it works in the end.

I've been reading about this for about an hour now, and what I found interesting is a lot of folks have had trouble getting this device to work in Windows 7. I saw suggestions that you should run the setup program before plugging the Easycap device into your computer, which seemed to work for some from what I could tell. I think the only way you can get to a point where you could do that would be to to uninstall it completely and start over from scratch. It sounds like you can uninstall it from the Control Panel in the Programs and Features applet. I also discovered a Youtube video from a guy that apparently has it working just fine on his computer and he shows step by step how to go about it. This guy (Jaftek) didn't say anything about running the setup program before plugging the device in, so I'm not sure if that helps or not. He provides links to both 32 and 64 bit Windows 7 drivers (on his Youtube channel) and it's in a zip file so you can extract the contents and just install the driver through the Device Manager versus running a setup.exe program. This method in my estimation is the route to go as it gives you more granular control over what happens during the install/update process.

That's a long winded reply, but I think I'd unplug the Easycap device and then try to uninstall the existing software from the Control Panel. Then I'd reboot and follow the instructions outlined in the Jaftek's Youtube video for installing the driver. The link to his page is here:

My fingers are crossed!

Thanks for the information.

I have been trying to uninstall the existing drivers to start fresh, but even after deleting entries in the registry and deleting files, it still remains. I am in the process of restoring my laptop to its original state and starting fresh. I know if I keep at it I can get it to work somehow.

I won't have time to do the install until tomorrow, so I am keeping my fingers crossed all night.

I read all of the posts again to get a handle on where we've been. If I understand correctly you have a new laptop right? Just so I know, which version of Windows 7 does it have (Home Premium, Pro, Ultimate) and is it 32 or 64 bit?

Man, I hate to see you going into Regedit to get rid of that pesky program, but it sounds like a restore might be the way to go if you're at an impasse. I wish I could just swing by your house and give you a hand, but that ain't happening anytime soon!
