• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

E Pacific: Tropical Storm Norbert

Good day all,

Dry / stable air is taking its toll on this storm. Anyone who chose not to go did the right thing - Not worth it.

With shear increasing after 24 hours not much will be in store at all come Saturday in Baja.

Mexico is NOT the place to chase storms, especially with camera equipment. The police run there own show down there and will confiscate whatever they please. I suppose if you do go, the further south you go in Baja the nicer the people get. But its really really risky.

It all depends on WHERE in Mexico you are. The Baja region, as mentioned above, is a risky place. Poor road networks, remote areas, corrupt LEO / government, etc. Throw a hurricane / tropical disaster into the works, and the subsequent anarchy and "thug factor" radically increases.

Areas like Aculpulco, and ofcourse, the eastern Yucatan (Cozumel, Cancun, etc) are much safer (wealthier / tourist) places to chase. These have BETTER roads, data availability, and a "safer" crowd to deal with.

You will not be getting streaming wi-fi in Baja unless you were using XM satellite / a satellite phone. I am not sure if XM is even available in Mexico for a US based subscription, come to think of it, any thoughts on this, anyone?

For anyone going to take a "stab" at this one, I tip my lucky hat for them. Just be careful as the storm may not be the biggest thing your up against.

Intensity, contrary to the weakening trend yesterday, has increased ... Not winds are 105 MPH. I am not sure if those winds are making it down to the surface, though. The storm, moving more NE now, should be under shear, but not as much as if it was moving WNW or NW. I think we will see a strong cat-1 or even cat-2 at landfall, which should be Saturday morning at the 8-10 AM PDT range.

Norbert is a little unique in that it is crossing the Baha California Peninsular and back into the Gulf of California, like some of his siblings do when they cross Florida and enter the Gulf of Mexico...

Now for the hard question...

Norbert will make two 'land falls' and one __________ fall' . Fill in the blank...

my choices...

gulf
ocean

and the one I like best...

water

The devil made me do it....:)

Good day,

Yeah - Stu ... You got that right. The storm will make it to cat-3 or cat-4 when you are NOT there ;-(

but had you spent the time and effort, then the "shear" word becoms common and irritating. I've been there too...

That's impossible ... Mountains will rip the LLC of this thing to shreds once in Mexico.
