Doppler Radar Question

Okay, I have a question, over time when discussions are going on when analyzing doppler radar scans, what does "gate-gate velocity" mean. Is there a tutorial of some sort out there that gives the basics of analyzing/reading doppler scans that a "noob" could pick up on? Thanks in advance.
