• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

I'm actually looking to downsize. I use my notebook more for business, and it's a pain carrying it around (first was 17, now 15, and I want to go even smaller)... plus (and this is a big plus), it's not that good on battery life. I'm looking at a 13 inch MacBook as my next upgrade.

I have a Gateway 17" widescreen (tablet) which is nice but a smaller once would be better. However, I cannot complain as it is issued from work and costs me nothing.

If I was buying however, i would get a ThinkPad X60 for the road. I saw one recently from the vendor and it sure is sweet.

I've got a mini tower computer stashed behind the passenger seat, with the video screen on the dash. Driving a passenger car, a 15" is all I have room for. A smaller screen wouldn't hurt.

I have a 15" and downgrading wouln't hurt....

I am looking to one of those GPS with radars so I can use my laptop only on data stops: much safer alternative and better space organisation.

I run with an old Dell C640 (14.1 inch) this is about a big as you want to go in the car - ok 15 inch being tops!

What is more important is the resolution of the screen - if you can run 1280 * 1024 on 14" screen then that would do me fine - if I can find a laptop thesedays that support this? - the trend now seems to be 17" and bigger

Big, big, big!

I'd get the biggest screen one can get. I like the 'real estate' it offers to run programs side-by-side.

My motto:

If one can fit a 15 inch....you can fit a 17 inch!

Back in the mid 90s, I took a reciprocating saw to my dash in my '91 Caravan and stuck a 15" CRT monitor in the center with a 486DX33 desktop behind the drivers seat. Didn't need the stupid radio or HVAC controls.....

Embarrassed to say what I have now.....

Tim

I find myself using the 12.1 Dell 700m over the monster 9300 dispite the fact that the 9300 smooths

How about two 17 inch screens side by side? Double your desktop space!

I "plan" to in the future once I get a ram mount. You just cant beat two screens, 1 for radar and 1 for navigation =)

Funny that you mention this... I installed a 14" Touchscreen on my dash for chasing purposes so that i didn't need a mouse or trackball/pad so often. But I find myself thinking about putting my laptop next to this screen instead of packed in the back.

Then I come full circle to needing a input device of using the trackpad on the computer again.. (sigh)
