• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Craziest Weather Shot To Date

Okay, here we go....Of course, It's hard as hell, to narrow it to just one shot! :D

So, I'll post my top two!

This is from underneath the massive Woodward Shelf Cloud from last year, can't quite recall the date.

Craziest ever? That's a tough one. For this year, though, I'd have to go with the April 22 groundscraper in the TX Panhandle. There were only a few other cars up there and I still have yet to see any other photos of this thing. Having a one of a kind photo this year was a real exercise in futility.

Great shots guys! For me nothing has topped my first storm chase. In Memphis, TX on 06/01/09. This was a nonsevere thunderstorm that fired up aong an outflow boundary. It had some of the most incredible storm structure I have ever seen. It also produced a very slow moving photogenic gustnado.

Jason Brock has a timelapse of the whole thing here.

These pictures are not particularly crazy, but each event was an interesting experience.

Picture taken on 12/19/08 in Mead, Colorado.

Freezing fog characterized the morning I took these two pictures. I assumed there would be no breaks in the fog as I drove home, but a small clearing emerged right around Mead, Colorado which allowed me to take the pictures of the rime with a blue sky backdrop. The crazy event occurred after taking these pictures. While driving down the interstate, the fog cleared/thinned just enough so the Sun could shine through. At that moment, a brilliant complete circle rainbow appeared in the thin fog bank above my car! Several cars in front of me, including myself, swerved in our lanes due to this startling rainbow approximately 100 feet above the ground. I wish I could have taken a picture of this, but by the time I had centered my vehicle and grabbed the camera off the passenger seat, I had driven back into thicker fog and the rainbow had vanished.

This picture was taken in Norman, OK after the 1/28/10 ice storm.

This is some greenage in Oklahoma (and when I asked permission to enter the truck yard, owner had no idea there was a meso over his barn).

This is a CG branch reaching out to another mesa because there are cell phone towers on it. (AZ)

Alone in the Mogollon wilderness...a place where alien abductions, the restless ghost of a white settler named the Skinwalker, and sightings of the bigfoot-like Mogollon Monster, are ingrained in the local lore. Good times! ;)
