I've heard 385 in CO has construction north and south of Wray, CO. My question is, how long is the delay? CO-DOT puts it at 15-20 mins, but I was wondering what your experience of it was. Your input would be appreciated!

Yeah, that sounds about right. There was two of those along that section of road from Wray to Nebraska when I drove through on May 21st. I sat behind Andy Gabrielson for about 15 minutes north of Wray before we moved. I hit the second one just as they were moving so I didn't wait at all for that one ;)

They had the road you drove on completely tore up so it was a pothole filled dirt road, however the northbound lane (the closed one) looked nearly finished, so they might be driving on the smooth part now.

Edit: Maybe it was one north and one south of Wray, I don't remember for sure, but there was two of them.

Went through on 8th & 9th - 8 mile stretch north of Wray, shorter stretch south of Wray - 2 waits for pilot vehicles, plus slow transit time behind pilot vehicles - estimate 40-45 mins delay overall vs normal travelling time

This is about how long it took me to get through the two zones as well. It is all about timing. If you just barely miss the pilot vehicle you will be stuck there for quite a while. The northern stretch of the 2 escorted areas is also very rough and torn up. I recommend avoiding Yuma County, CO all together if you need to travel north or south in a hurry.

Got lucky today, went on 385 south and met the pilot car at each location. However, there are two spots and they are both south of Wray (I thought there was one north and one south). If we hadn't of met each pilot car we might have missed today's action.

When you were on that road, did you see this guy? ;) (the one the right! The guy on the left is one of my chase partners, Bren Jones)

This was from May 21 - some of the Vortex guys were in the queue too.

I agree with Bart. Avoid that area if you can. We got stuck waiting on the pilot car at least 20 minutes. I'd hate to be stuck there with a wedge coming at me !

That work guy was the only reason I think I kept sane back on the 21st.. He seemed quite interested in all the storm chasers stuck waiting for the pilot car and had a nice convo with him. Just missed pilot cars both times that day and ended up taking 50 minutes longer to get to my target than expected. The 2nd section had ruts so deep I scraped the underside of the car on the ridges at times. Avoid that road at all costs!
