Cloud-top estimation on hurricane floater imagery

I'd really like to know what's the standard for estimating height for the blackish
cloud tops (there were more of them earlier):

Determine what temperature those tops are (using the legend, or pixel query in something like GEMPAK) and compare to model soundings and/or nearby RAOBs.
