Chaserpedia, a wiki just for chasers!

I want to add Shawn and Chris are both doing a great job for this site. Chris is making the site alot easier to navigate and search so adding articles is easy now. I am still hoping for a mirror site so any articles added are not lost and I think Shawn said he would work on that. The problem with weather wiki's is most people are not intersted and the people that are get bored fast. I have seen 6 weather wiki's on other sites that died because people lost interest. If we keep working on this wiki and if we can pick up a few more helpers this wiki may just survive more than a few months. I think this is a good thing. We have a glossary set up and a weather almanac set up if anybody is interested in helping out. I won't be posting in this thread again unless someone has a question for me.

Ps. If there is any spam Chris or Shawn will remove it. I think their goal is to keep this a more professional wiki.

I want to add at the bottom of the main page there is a link you can click on called "Storm chaser websites". This takes you to a page where you can add links to storm chasing or weather related websites. I have already added several links to websites of members here to get it started. This is for anyone that wants to add a link to thier site. If Chris and Shawn don't mind you could even create a page in that page and give a description about yourself and your site to go along with your link.

Thanks Matt for your positive feedback!

We do allow user pages to describe ourselves on Chaserpedia. Just edit your User:... page to a description about yourself and you can also update the site's list.

We look forward to having more administrators, contributors, and users! So if you are interested let Shawn or I know.

Thanks everyone!

When I return from working up north, I am going to install a bunch of anti-spam extensions on the wiki, nothing is 100% spam proof but I can make the wiki very hard to spam :D I also welcome those who want to make a page for their chaser or weather-related services, media provider, forums, sites, products etc. That is not spam, that is chaser resources in my opinion.

I encourage chaser or weather-related services (such as Chasing Tours) and other media/forums/and sites to create a page on the wiki also. I had a great thread a while a go about Recommendations for a Storm Chasing Tour. It would be great if some of those groups would create pages on the wiki as resources.

Thanks,
Chris Zenzel

Wow. I just came across this. I think it's a great idea to have this as a central resource. Just wish I'd thought of it first! Nice job!

I look forward to contributing and seeing it evolve in the near future.

Even though you didn't think of it first, you can still be a big part of it in its first stages. Later on down the road when its huge, you could be saying "Hey! I helped make that wiki what it is today!".

Yes of course :) Please also post your link on our wiki, at the bottom of the main page, you will see a "storm chaser websites" link, feel free to post one. You will need to become a member though, its free, we require it to prevent spam.

In case anyone is interested, we are looking for volunteer staff members to help us make our wiki better. The wiki is growing with content thanks the Matthew Carmen and others and more stuff is being added more and more. I think it may turn into a wonderful project and I think more volunteer staff members is crucial for helping it grow.

Please see the official blog post with all the details, benefits, requirements and how to apply at http://blog.chaserpedia.com/2011/03/chaserpedia-needs-you/ and thank you for your interest in Chaserpedia. :)
