Chaser(s) Of The Decade

I think most have left voluntarily, and I'd assume Mike would be on that side rather than being banned. I'll wait to see if anyone from the "staff" comments.

There's a reason we can't quantify the greatest chasers in a decade... its because its completely subjective. As Shane and others have said there are about a million different ways you could quantify this. Sheer numbers, success ratios, certain categories (stills, video, money, ect.). At the end of the day we are all out there for our own reasons and motivations. If I were to list my votes it would simply be those I have the most respect for or can call my friends at the end of the day even though a few of them don't even post on this forum.

Mike requested that his account be deleted.

On a totally separate note, the accumulation of infraction points will result in temporary suspensions of a varying degree, depending on the amount of points that are accumulated based on the severity of any said infractions.

An actual permanent ban (account abrogated) is indeed very, very rare, and only used if an extremely repugnant breach of conduct has occurred that undermines the stability of ST.

I noticed months ago Dan Robinson also asked for his account to be removed and he is no longer a member of the site. I think to much drama on storm track is chasing people off.

You know how sarcasm works, right? Re-read Connor's post and let me know if you really think he was being serious or making a tongue-in-cheek remark.

Many of the nominated "Chasers of the Decade" never posted, or no longer post, on Stormtrack. I don't care to weigh in on whether this is due to a natural evolution in the community or a reflection of issues within the community, but I think we lose out either way. I know Mike's posts were always well thought out and respectful, and I appreciate his replies to my questions and others.

I find it hard to believe that Mike would do a "drama quit", so I'm assuming that he gave a legitimate reason for wanting to be deleted. I hope the underlying issue is addressed.

I was curious as to why Mike had been gone from the site the last few days when looking at some threads. That is to bad. I gained much knowledge from his recommendations and helpful information. When looking at his pictures, it always motivates me to get out and try different things with my camera. He is by far one of the best and most willingly helpful photographers in storm chasing and I will definitely use other resources than I was before for tips (his site is still top notch though).

Staying on topic, as I would hate to get points for that... :), I don't believe we can rank chasers. There isn't a ranking system based on how many "worthy" intercepts a particular chaser has and when there is one, that will be the end of my participation. Each person has their own idea of a worthy intercept, whether it be a tornado or a beautiful sunset. There are many chasers who are well established and are good at what they want to do, but it is also what they WANT to do. Other people have different opinions on what a chaser should be accredited for and will have different thoughts on what is a great chaser. Then again, since I have not taken the effort to go back and read all the pages prior, I am probably just repeating what others have said.

My opinion, from what I have seen on the nets and extensive research into the field over the past years, since I am very big into photography, Mike Hollingshead would definitely be in my top few.

Myself being the first of course!

I'm just wondering, I see some Stormtrack members are no longer listed as members, including Mike Hollingshead. He seemed to be active up until I noticed he is no longer a Stormtrack member. I know others have requested to be removed but are still listed as active. Has he been banned?

MOD NOTE: No he has asked to have his account quietly removed. For privacy reasons the site staff will not discuss this. I ask that you all please respect that and no longer discuss his leaving from ST on the public boards or the B&G.

Thank you.

Oh, I'm the queen of sarcasm in my house, so I'm quite familiar. :) But for me, not knowing Connor at all and just reading the post as-is, it didn't sound sarcastic to me. I think unless it's an obviously sarcastic comment, you should add a ;) in there somewhere. Just my .02...

Sorry to be off-topic...
