Chaser doldrums ?

Some words penned awhile back:

" The sailors of old who crossed the seas occasionally got stuck in the still waters of the "doldrums". In like manner a jet stream high pressure system of descending air ( affectionately called a "death ridge" ) can stall and drag on for weeks in the plains. Its the grim reaper to chaser hopes. For someone stuck out in middle of nowhere, it can get a little depressing.

I remember one season I was stuck in Dodge City with 105- degree weather. I felt like a surfer waiting for a jet stream "wave" to finally come in. The AC in my van wasn't working either. Whew !

Storm chasers gathering outside their vans in the parking lot resembled old thirsty cowboys in a western movie. They stared up at the glaring blaze of the sun while the windmills rest motionless. The tanned chaser stares out to the west. "Are those clouds finally rising up ?" No. "Just another mirage".

Any thoughts ?
