• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

There's been some threads about these things but it's never been broken down in a short poll for simplicity. Ive wanted to know what ST thinks on the subject since I don't have one and which ones are better.

Gerard,

I suspect a poll on this subject won't tell us which one is the best, but it will tell us which one is the most popular amongst Stormtrack members. There may be a small handful of people that have tried multiple brands, but I'm willing to bet the majority of folks have only used the amplifier they originally installed in their vehicle. It may very well come down to a Chevy vs. Ford discussion. It would be great if someone had all of the different brands lined up at the same time to run tests, but obviously that would be cost prohibitive.

I went with a Cyfre "Rockies" package from Maximum Signal because it comes highly recommended from a lot of chasers, but I do not have any experience with other amplifiers, or even this one for that matter, so I cannot offer you a valid comparison or opinion. But what I can suggest is reading all that you can on the different amplifiers and then selecting the amplifier that best suits your needs. (the right bands, whether or not you desire to run dual cards for redundancy, etc.) I have an assumption that you can't go wrong with a Cyfre form Maximum Signal or a Wilson amp...so it just comes down to matching the right product to your needs and the final price. But again, that is just an assumption on my part.

I may be mistaken, but I believe the "Rockies" amp is a Peak Reception model. This is the model I have, and I've been pleased with its performance. I also have a tiny amount of experience with one Wilson model and one other model (I don't remember the maker of this one.) I had less than acceptable results with the latter two, but I didn't know what I was doing then in terms of matching frequencies and antennas, so mine is probably a pretty skewed view. I chose the "Other" option in the pole.
