cant get my cam to stream

Ive been working on this all day and i cant get anywhere. i have a sony sx41 and i cannot get it to hook up to flash media encoder. i have all the correct drives running on win7 64bit on a toshiba a505. i just cant get it to work and i already bought chasertv subscription. google and ST search turned up nothing.

How are you connecting the camera to the computer?
Many camcorders will not stream video via the USB port. I don't know about that one.

Are you using USB or Firewire?

I'm going to assume that he is indeed using the USB connection as another device wasn't listed in the original post. The SX41 camcorder records to flash memory. While you may have the correct drivers for this camcorder, the USB connection is only used to download clips that have already been recorded. There is no streaming through the USB. As far as I know, only tape based camcorders will stream through the USB (or Firewire). What you need to do is use the A/V port on the camcorder with a video capture/tuner device like the EasyCAP or Startech. There should be a cable that came with your Sony that connects to the proprietary a/v port and terminates in RCA composite and S-Video plugs. Those are the guys you'll be using to stream.

If you are considering a video capture device I would suggest you consider the Startech. I tried the Easycap (which, judging from EBay is widely knocked off) and have not been able to get it to work. I am returning the Easycap device and going with the Startech.
