Ewwww!! So what, you finish your business then you have a pail of your business that you have to tote around with you??? Or worse how about the second time you need to use it, you have to pop the lid off and see (and smell) it staring at you! Nooooo thank you! I'd rather sit on a barbed wire fence.

Well, you could just leave the bucket off of it and use the seat part of it. You'd have to carefully position the vehicle so that you didn't get a gushy surprise afterwards.

The center-median travel plazas on the Oklahoma and Kansas turnpikes are pretty ideal places to sleep. Most of them seem to have isolated quiet parking areas on one end away from vehicle and pedestrian traffic. I used one on 4/12 near Wichita for several hours, parked among several RVs, and it worked quite well. Saved $70 on a room.

I can't remember exactly what it is, but I know there is a time limit (I think 8 hours) to be within the confines of the Kansas Tpk before they charge you the maximum toll regardless of where you enter/exit.

I was flirting with the possibility of car sleeping after last Saturday's chase, but ended up pulling the all night drive back to Indy. I had been up for 31 hours before I finally got to bed! Had I needed to stop, I was likely going to go with a rest stop or truck stop. I would be too worried about trespassing, as has been discussed in this thread, if I were to just pull off on a dead-end road. Sure, there are lights and lots of people walking around making noise at these other places, but at least it's some sense of security. It would be little more than a power nap for me anyway, and as soon as I woke up I'd get back on the road. In the end, the motivation of my comfortable bed waiting at home kept me awake for the drive all the way back!

I ended up sleeping in my car in Woodward, OK before the high risk day, and at a crossroads truckstop in the OK panhandle the following night. $8 shower/idle the car (with the windows open), and it was quite comfortable, actually.

I traveled to WI around few years ago or so and I had to sleep in my truck in parking lot. I do not mind sleeping in my truck again if I have to take a nap to be alert driver. Two years ago, I went to Iowa and happened to get free camping space and I used my tent. great advices and discussion here about camping or sleeping in your vehicles.
