• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Camera Dome redesign: Round Flange, no seal, water,

So if you read my other post about my dome, I'm not happy. So I'm having to redesign my dome structure. A square flange would have been better for an water tight seal but I'm having to deal the cards I was dealt.

So I have a question, is it bad if water in running through the dome housing? I have added a rubber piece that goes around the flange to try and make a good seal. There are still places that water can flow under.

I have all the wires protected so I'm not worried about that. If water is just flowing through, I should be fine, right? Or is this where condensation becomes a problem?

I don't really want to cut, let alone drill into the plexiglass because if I crack it, I'm screwed.

How I have it mounted now is that I have it wedged between my cross bars of my luggage rack. I have it locked down tight and it is not going anywhere.

Any ideas would be great, thanks!

I would think if water can get under than air could get under. I think the issue would be wind blown water. Also as you mentioned condensation would rear its ugly head too.

How were you planning to secure it to your cartop without any drilling or cutting? I've found that plastic drills pretty well if you use "lip and spur" bits (not twist bits) and cuts ok with a fine-tooth finish hand-saw. Just don't force things. Get a little piece of acrylic from the building materials/hardware store and practice.

If you drill holes then all sorts of possibilities open up (as it were), such as a suction-cup base wing-nutted through a gasket to your dome.
