Bluetooth Cellphone Headset

I would like to hear some recommendations from those who HAVE ACTUALLY USED the device, what you use and why you like it.

I have a Jabra unit (500 I think?), which I researched and saw great recommendations on the internet on it, but people can hardly hear me on it, I practically have to yell.

I literally have a pile of old BT headsets that I spent a lot of money on... and they are all worthless in any environment where there is just a little bit of noise. UNTIL recently.

I read reviews on the Jawbone for several weeks, scouring the internet for everyones opinion of it and most all agreed that it was the best of what is available out there (but still not perfect). I went on that and purchased one and I can honestly say its the first headset that I actually USE regularly.

There is a great promo for it on their website and its true, the noise reduction really works very well. I can drive with the radio up rather loud and the person on the other end cant hear a thing but my voice.

I feel there is still a ways until they become truly perfect little devices but of the choices out there, this is the best one I feel.

We have a pair of Samsung-WEP200s. I can say that I am less than enamoured with their performance.

We upgraded to Bluletooth-capable phones a couple of weeks ago, and I was looking forward to Bluetooth capability and the space-age technology of having a wireless handsfree set. Well - first of all let's scratch those "space-age" dreams.

Bluetooth headsets are mostly just what they look like - they are tiny little wireless devices that transmit the sound into your ear wirelessly as opposed to through a wire - as in the old conventional wired handsfree sets. Unfortunately - sound and signal degradation all go hand in hand with going wireless.

Our Bluetooth headsets are OK, but only OK, and not space-age. First of all - you are not miraculously "freed" from your phone - as the signal only travels a few feet - so you still need to bank on carrying that phone around with you on your person. Secondly - walk more than a room or so away from your phone and the other person will not be able to hear you, and vice-versa. Thirdly - the noise in the background is HORRENDOUS. I agree with Christopher - if you have just the slightest bit of noise in the background, then your call will be greatly compromised.

I could go on - but I'm so disappointed with Bluetooth, I can't be bothered! Still......it is nice to have a new phone.

Yeah, I was getting pretty disappointed too, the Jawbone was the first to actually restore any faith I had in those things. I can walk all around my apartment, even down to the second floor and still keep my calls (albeit there is some noticeable static) with the Jawbone so range is decent. I actually answer most my calls on this little thing now because it is so much easier to write and work without holding my big honkin blackberry up to my ear and I like the audio quality too, its not degraded.

Another vote for the Jawbone! Keep in mind though that the headset is only half of the equation; some phones implement bluetooth better than others. In some cases you may need to update firmware if your phone is not a recent model.

I've had a motorola headset (H500 I think) for a while now. It's decent. I guess if I was being really picky, the quality of the speaker isn't quite as good as on the phone itself. The mic IS really sensitive, so when there's a lot of wind, or I'm in a vehicle with lots of road noise, that can cause problems. I'm able to walk around the house using it with no problems. I'm never more than 25 feet from the phone though, and there will only be one wall between me and the phone. If I go outside, it will disconnect.

I've recommended getting one to relatives that drive and talk on the phone a lot. I think they're more than worth it. One less thing to have to juggle while driving.

I purchased the Jawbone for my wife and she loves it. Very clear audio and small in size. Got it from Global Computer.

I own four Ericsson and/or Sony/Ericsson bluetooth headsets. I own an HBH-10, HBH-15, HBH-30, and HBH-35. They're all okay, but I actually prefer the oldest one of the bunch - the HBH-10, originally developed circa late 2000. It seems to gel the best with my aging cell phone, which is a Sony Ericsson T68i. They work okay in low noise environments, but not so well in noisier environments.

I've always had my eye on a BlueAnt, and have also heard good things about the Aliph Jawbone. I subscribe to several computer magazines and what I've read about the Aliph Jawbone is nothing but good. You can also find a lot of good information on http://www.mobileburn.com about bluetooth headsets.

I have used a Jawbone for about a year. It really does cut down the noise. I have used it while doing phoners and it is very clear back at the station. I use it on duty and it is great with all the radios on. One problem I have lost it in the last week................

I have the Plantronics Voyager 510, and I love it. My dad has it, and I know several other people that have it. Last time I checked, it was less than $50 from Newegg.
