• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

ATT Phone Tethering

Does anyone have a link or the settings handy to tether to ATT data, and specifically for a Razr phone? I can no longer dial in with my phone to the data network, and all of the webpages I have found online seem outdated. Is [email protected] still being used? Thanks

I know that there have been issues with that and I think it is related to who they authenticate now. My phone recently had those settings in it, for even its normal 3G connection but I kept losing my connection. The lady on the phone told me that they no longer put those settings in and that the phone and network take care of the rest.

Why not call them up and get the specific settings for your phone?

When AT&T bought Cingular all the tethering rules changed. Also the sites and software were changed. AT&T requires the $60 plan for 5 GB of data with either tether or the air card/USB unit. The other lesser expensive plans are for phone only Internet and the amount of data you may download is much less.

Where I live I cannot get Alltel or Verizon and I may have to go back with AT&T

so I've been watching for some kind of deal before signing up again.

Good luck

ATT bought Cingular quite awhile though, and my tethering worked just fine a few months ago. From the forum link that J posted it seems everyone else is still using it without hitch. I'll just have to redo all my settings, which I actually haven't sat down and done yet.

Don't let them scare you ! You can still get unlimited internet for $15 and tether all you want and use 20 gigs a month and not have any problems. Don't let them scare you. Nobody has been busted yet for going over the 5 gig softcap so tether away :D

I just tested my tether with my Palm Treo 750 yesterday, worked fine on the ATT network here in Wisconsin. In fact I had it up for about a half hour doing some video streaming. I've never seen a warning for amount of bandwidth per month.

However, I'm using the 'Internet Sharing' application in Windows Mobile.

What are everybody's speeds outside of the 3G metro networks? Here in rural Wisconsin I'm getting about 170 kbps down and 75 kbps up.

I have to come up with a solution for mobile data for 2009 myself, but hadn't considered tethering because it seems that a few folks have said AT&T coverage among the plains was spotty at best. Since my current cell plan is with AT&T, I figured I was going to have to go with a Verizon air card. Is this true about at&t's coverage?

Thanks
Scott

It is, and I'm going to be using a Verizon data card next season. I was hoping, however, to keep my ATT phone for voice and use it as backup data. However, if I can't figure out how to fix this problem I'm currently having then I'm going to drop my data option.

The plan I had was tethering with Cingular for unlimited data at $25 a month. I had been on it for quite a few years. I called to inquire and we were told strictly that plan was gone and not to use it. My daughter (on our family plan) did use it and she (us unfortunately) got hammered with a $700 monthly charge. Scare indeed, when I sign back up it will be for the 5 GB plan, not one of the lessor phone plans with lower ceilings. As for others on here doing unlimited for less than $60, good for you I'm envious!!
