Not up to severe levels where I am located-but today there was quite an active thunderstorm day in Arizona. I noticed many SMALL micro-bursts -small enough to see the area of rain, and the wind picked up from it, but so short as to just disturb a very small area. Also lots of CG, and in east valley (Phoenix Metro) there was a dust storm roll in from Down north of Tucson.
Now what I find funny is I got on my radar and could see three areas of storms down near Tucson-coming North. I called the NWS and they said they were waiting to see outflow boundaries on their radars before issuing any statement-30 min later they issued a dust storm warning-I point this out considering that the desert area in and around I-10 & I-8 is WELL known for major dust related accidents.
Why they decided to WAIT seems out of place given the obvious.
