That is cheap. My chase partner, David Drummond, has exclusively used this product for the last few years and LOVES it. Until now I only knew of it being available from glass shops as a favor. If you can find it buy it.

I checked at both Advance Auto Parts stores here and they said that they had never heard of it and it was not in their book. It must not be in their product line nationwide, or either these are two different parts stores. I use rain-x all the time so I'm sure I would like Aquapel. Read on a car talk forum that it is as low as 4 for 10 to 15 bucks at Costco, depending on inventory I guess. There is no Costco around here though so I guess I will have to order it from some place if I want to try it out.

I called (but didn't visit in person) two Advanced Auto near me and they too never heard of the stuff.

I even checked a few glass shops...they don't have any either. Must not be available on the E. coast, or at least not around DC.

I'm totally fine with RainX...no real need to upgrade...especially if it's hard to get.

If you click the link that J Kincaid provided there is a feature on Advance Auto's website that will let you put your zip code in and it will tell you the closest store that has the product. It might save you some time. Luckily, according to their website there is a store about 14 miles from here that has it in stock. I'm going to try it out. Thanks for sharing that with us. I'm going to check out the MCS in KY today to hopefully get some lightning shots.

Looks like our local Advanced stores has it, but my glass shop here usually gives it to me free because I buy so many windshields. That stuff is GREAT! It usually lasts all season (or until the next windshield) where I found I was having to put RainX back on after every chase practically.

I called again just to make sure since their site stated that the stores here did carry it. Turns out one store might be getting it in next shipment and the other store has it in stock. Thanks for the info. Must have just been talking to some ignorant employees the other day.

Anyone else used this and able to comment on its effectiveness?

At this price, I'm very tempted to pick up a couple packs just to try it out. However, a quick Google search showed some mixed reviews. Nobody seems to dispute that it lasts several months without the need to re-apply, but quite a few users mentioned that they get smaller beads that won't blow off until you reach higher speeds, when compared with Rain-X. At $2.95, it wouldn't bother me at all to switch back to Rain-X if the results are disappointing, but I'm afraid I'd be stuck with it for the long haul due to it chemically bonding to the glass (such that throwing Rain-X on top of it might be a bad idea?).

Costco in Omaha had it on clearance last week for $10 for 6 vials, might want to check yours it's in a green blister pack.

Personally I picked one up in the early spring ($16 was normal price), I was not really impressed and still have all the rest of the vials. I went back to RainX, seems like there is always some extra time to put it on anyway.

I started using aquapel in 2006 and it is pretty amazing how well it works. Like someone previously posted, I can drive on the interstate in the rain and not have to use my wipers. It seems to last about 4 months depending on the amount of rain and bugs you get on there. I've recommended it to family members simply because I think it makes driving in the rain safer.

I went to my local Advance Auto yesterday and bought their last three packages of Aquapel.

When I walked in the door the guy asked me if he could help and I told him what I was looking for. He took me to where the Rain-X was and said it looks like they don't carry it. I told him it said they had it on their website and he said he had never heard of it. So I told him thanks, I'd just look around.

I found it on a display of sale items on the end of an aisle. I didn't realize this was an As Seen On TV product with Billy Mays photo on the package. Maybe that's why it is on sale.

When I got to the cash register, the guy who helped me said, "I've heard some people say this stuff doesn't work very well. Have you ever tried Rain-X?" The same stuff he had never heard of 5 minutes earlier now was not the product he reccomended. I thought that was funny.

Can you all remember when you used to actually be able to get good advice at an auto parts store?
