Alternative to Quicktime Pro for Assembling Time lapses?

For many years I've used Quick Time Pro to assemble "image sequences" out of a series of JPG's to make time lapses. In recent years I've been just speeding up video instead of using discrete images, but there still are times when I just use my GoPro in time lapse mode and need to assemble the jpg's into a time lapse. I remember there was a way to do it in Lightroom but for this kind of stuff I don't want to spend all the time to import thousands of images into LR.

Apparently Apple is dumping QT for Windows (see here).

Any suggestions for alternatives?

Thanks!

John
