I've had Allstate full coverage on my vehicles the last 5 years with 0 accident claims. About 3 years ago I filed a hail claim and they made good, and paid the body shop directly. I've sat on the 2012 hail damage but took some considerable damage in OKC on May 31. So, I'm planning to file another claim.
My question is, will Allstate pay a check to cover damages to the insured (no lien holder) and let the insured fix it or not? I would like to just get the hood and side and door panels fixed on the one side, and leave the roof alone and maybe let a few other dings go un-repaired and pocket what may be left over. But I can understand Allstate would not want to run the risk of paying for the same roof damage in a potential future hail claim, so I'm a little unsure how they try and protect themselves from paying multiple claims on the same damage outside of perhaps photo documentation, unless they will only pay shops directly for work performed.
This particular vehicle has had no claims on it FWIW
