Allisonhouse on GRLevel3

I feel like an idiot and cannot figure out how to get the Allisonhouse feeds onto GR3. I watched the intro tutorials but can't find any of the others. And all I get are links to the feeds, but to put it on GR3 I need shape or style files. Anyone who can help, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

You should have gotten a link for the level 3 data from Tyler. In GRL3, use the menubar to open File then Configure Polling. Put the link for the data in the box for non-NWS server and check the checkbox to use that server.

If Configure Polling is greyed out, stop polling first to make it available.

I am unable to see lighting strikes. How do I turn this feature on? What am I missing?

Thanks Robert! What about the other data sets? I did get the radar switched to Allisonhouse but don't know how to get storm reports, spotter icons and such on GR

Open up the placefile manager and click the open folder icon to add those.

Chris,

There are a number of sweet placefiles you can run on GRlvl3 at at the same time, but my experience has been that it's best to limit the number I run at once. It really taxes the graphics card and affects the performance of my computer. Have fun with the program - I love mine!

When I hit "Configure Polling" for the AH server, I get the following message:

"Error parsing downloaded g3level3.cfg"

Any idea on this?

Hi Tony,

I had the same challenge; maybe this solution will work for you. Open the "configure polling" field. For whatever reason, when I initially copied it into the field it tabbed over leaving a margin between the start of the field and the start of the text. Backspace to get rid of the margin and see if that works for you. If it doesn't, I found this forum to be particularly helpful:

It's actually very easy and not much should go wrong hopefully. Login to your Allison House account and be very careful to copy the server link at the top of the page with no extra spaces at the front or end. Then open GRL3 and click "Stop Polling" from the File menu. After that click on "Configure Polling" and in the box that pops up paste your server link into the box, click the "use this server" option, then click OK. After that go back to the file menu and click "Start Polling" and you should be good to go.

Thanks everyone for the tip. Actually, shortly after I posted the last message saying that it did not work, I got it working. The problem was some extra space in the link, although it's still not clear to me how I got it to work exactly.

I posted a reply to say that the problem had been resolved shortly after 5:30 p.m.- hit "submit" and it appeared to post, but guess it didn't get through. I just got to my motel after chasing non-stop since I made that post, and saw the subsequent responses.
