Jared, you're right about the new interchange. I hadn't been through there since they rebuilt it. But the old bridge looks like it offered as little protection as the new one.
That slide show was quite an interesting, if lengthy, read. I think the point to come away with is that not all overpasses are created equal, and no two severe wx occurrences are alike. The risks posed from the overpasses is just too great to jerk around with.
