Hope Dallas Storm Chaser Friends are OK

Just got Twitter a couple of days ago, a breaking news alerted me to this within minutes after the event ... Twitter just justified itself.

Have got the TV feed, at least this doesn't seem to be the disastrous
Dallas/FW strike people have been trying to prepare for.

Hope all the Dallas/FW chaser friends are OK.

Good luck, everyone.

Radar image of second tornado

There were two tornadoes, apparently. One near Seagoville and the other from just west of downtown to near Love Field. Here is the DFW TDWR image of the hook associated with the latter tornado when it was crossing I-35E.

I have more at my blog: http://meteorologicalmusings.blogspot.com/2010/09/tornado-in-dallas.html

While the Dallas storms have weakened and moved north, another interesting storm has developed in Cooke County, Texas. The most interesting part of the storm was located about 3 miles west southwest of Gainesville, TX as of 7:19pm CDT. This storm has shown some weak rotation and is moving northeast towards the Gainesville area.

EDIT: A tornado warning has just been issued for this storm.

EDIT 2: As of 7:29pm CDT the possible tornado was located about 2 miles northwest of Gainesville, TX.

And again the TDWR network proves itself very useful. Multiple tornadic storms passed within range of both TDWRs in the DFW area. Unfortunately, the velocity signatures are very aliased and dirty, and the circulations associated with the storms that went over the middle of the metro area were pretty much unrecognizable. The storm to the southeast of Dallas was well depicted on both, however.

Jeff, absolutely correct. But the higher resolution really showed the hooks well. The TDWR's are a great supplement to the WSR-88D's.
