Stuck tight with my target north northeast of ICT... Didn't get drawn up onto the WF... Took these from the Butler county KS storm..

Waited out the cap, and finally saw some CU, and headed west.. Not the beastliest supercell ever, but there was some nice foreground for some cool shots!

As noted with my post in the forecast thread, it was interesting seeing everyone playing up and running towards the northern play. I decided to stick to my original target area on the far southern end near the OK/KS border. Chad Berryhill drove up and met me around 11am. We had to shoot a wedding in Sand Springs so we were not able to leave out until after 4pm with my original target in mind. Drove HWY 51 out to Stillwater and made it to 35 when the red box was issued. Going north past Perry we could see a few of the "towers" going up well to the west northwest of us. 00z RUC seemed to show the dryline "bulging" just a bit near and very close to the the west edge of 3000+j/kg. StongerSB CAPE was seen via the RUC just to our north and bucked up to -7 to -8 LI's.... mesoanalysis did indicate the CU field becoming very aggitated so we decided to play right on the state line between 2 cells that had gone up and seemed to hold together. We split the difference and played the Braman/South Haven area and were treated to 2 of the most photogenic lighting shows I have seen in a very long time!
Pics below.

Mr. Jeff smith finally met up with us just west northwest of Braman where we encounterd some very strong straight line winds in excess of 55-60mph causing a pickup to roll over on I-35 just south of Braman. Injury to a small child who had to be taken to to a local hospital.

All in all we had a great day!

Agreed on the lightning content of the storms.

I didn't expect much to happen anywhere so I just waited for the line to cross hoping for structure and some lightning.

These were of the shelf that passed through about 10 PM and though I despise noisy high ISO images I shot it as such to be able to capture it. The lightning overall was intense but on the backside of the storms was very energetic.
