Targeted Cheyenne, WY yesterday and made it up in time to catch the monster that rolled of the Cheyenne Ridge. The cell showed great signs of rotation but the low level shear was just not strong enough to keep the storm from going outflow. I chased with Dann Cianca and thanks goes out to Mike O'Keeffe for nowcasting.

I watched a nice updraft go up east of my house, and followed it to downtown KC, where I sat in traffic for about an hour, watching it fizzle. After heading west on I-670 it started to rain, and I happened to look back behind me and noticed a perfect rainbow over the skyscrapers in downtown KC. I shot this first one driving west and by the time I turned around, it wasn't as good, but looked very cool over the skyscrapers, with yet another updraft collapsing pretty close to downtown.

Golfball hail west of HW71 at NE/CO border

This storm yielded golfball+ size hail that fell for up to 20 minutes just south of Bushnell, NE. This was the second time I could hear them whistling as they fell - an erie sound, but cool to experience! One hit my dashboard and splattered the car with ice. Another hit my arm and caused a big bruise. We had one stone that was the size of a popcan top. Many had spikes like the one above.
