Road options today almost cost me a windshield. I was without internet for about an hour as I ventured south out of Logan, NM trying to get on the south side of the core. The last radar image I saw of the storm was right after it popped up. I broke through the core to see a developing wall cloud and a new radar image of an impressive supercell that I had just core punched.

I spent the whole life of the storm along a 13 mile highway in NM (highway 392) and didn’t see a single chaser till I got into Texas and the day was basically done. I watch the updraft occlude off twice from this highway as it tracked right along the road. I was stuck between the wall clouds and 3" inch hail. Every time I tried to go east the hail would get big, so I stayed NW of the rotation till I was forced to make a short drive south directly in front of the second occluding updraft. The inflow into the storm was still very intense as the grass was lying flat as I shot south. I hope the video turns out well. I made it down to near I-40 and turned around to watch the wall cloud spin it's self to death and to see a funnel coming from the new meso to my east very close to I-40. I got rocked by at least 60mph RFD the second I got the Jeep turned around to watch it. Rain curtains quickly shut the door and the day was over as the storms lined out.

Here are some pics. Will try to get a vid up in the next few days.
