An absolutely incredible day of chasing here in the Seattle metro area... of all things... severe storms in Seattle.

Anyway, convection fired around 5pm in eastern King County. First cell went SVR warned shortly after 5pm. Experienced nickel size hail and wind gust to ~30mph. Storm quickly moved off to the north as another, much more intense storm was moving north over Mt. Rainier. An incredible lightning display, followed by more nickel sized hail followed with the second storm. As the storm tracked over the flat farm lands of eastern King and Pierce counties, it became more surface based, with a very pronounced lowering and two cold-core / landspout - type funnels. Observed one funnel nearly 1/2 way to the ground. Residents in the city of Enumclaw were quite intent on viewing this event, rather than seeking shelter. Nevertheless, the funnels quickly dissipated and nothing really came of them.

Power was out for quite some time over much of King and Pierce counties (eastern) as intense CG lightning continued throughout the night.

Tonight marks the third night in a row for severe storms here in the Seattle metro area. Incredible!

Will post photos and video clips ASAP.

Cheers,
