I thought it was proper time start a 'Now' thread...

Two tornado warned cells are presently in Iowa. One in the far NW corner, and the other N of KDMX-E of Ft. Dodge. Situation and coditions are rapidly changing.

Edit: 3 Confirmed tornadoes in IA so far. One in the extreme NW corner and two more E of Ft Dodge...

CoD just got a tornado west of waterloo with that cell. was small put started to take on a cone look.

still has good meso on it

It's amazing that there have been 11 tornadoes in IA today - and no one has reported anything. Central IA is getting more tornadio warnings out right now - E and N of KDMX...Some nice hooks on a couple of them...

I'd guess we've all been too busy jumping around trying to get a clear view of these soupy storms. We were up on the northern cells in Iowa but they've junked out so we're calling it a night. Thought about heading to the cell near Kalona but we're too far away to get there before sunset. Saw at least one tornado in Hardin Co. and funnels everywhere. Full report coming.

We got a tornado near Dike, IA west of Waterloo. It crossed highway 20 right in front of us and ended up hitting a house and barn...will post pictures and hopefully video later...also saw a couple other probable tornadoes but hard to say if they made it all the way to the ground

Just wondering if this was from the same deal west of Holland or not. Intense rotating rain curtains west of town, and I'm assuming this must be the same deal and it went up towards Dike.

Soupy and rainy is right, jesus.

Again, Im interested to see these as well. I remember seeing a funnel back somewhere east of Kamrar and then again a needle funnel somewhere in the vicinity of Holland but otherwise nothing more than some broad rotation. I did see some rotating rain curtains around the Holland area as well but cant really confirm anything out of that, I noticed Mike H. pointed this out as well.

Josh,

Jeff Duda and myself were chasing in the same group and we saw basically the same thing you did near Holland. It was probably the most exciting thing we saw all day. Actually acting like a real supercell - RFD surge, updraft base lowering, rain curtain rotation. All other areas near confirmed tornadoes we saw nothing. Many times we were on a hill, with a perfect vantage point 5-10 miles from the rotation, with an un-obstructed view of the sky and ground, and we saw nothing. Apparently you need to almost be under the tornadoes to see them today.

Here you go Scott, here was the rotating rain curtains we were discussing.....of course, this is the zoomed in and highly contrasted version so that we can see in there better.
