• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Hi all,

a new severe weather episode is ongoing during this rather active month of May in parts of wrn and ctrl EUR. Several supercells occured during the evening and overnight hours in ctrl and nrn France as well as in Belgium and portions of the Netherlands.

There are many reports of golfball to baseball-sized hail from a significant supercell along a long swath from the french border through some areas of wrn Belgium to the dutch border. Damaging winds occured as well in some spots, damage reports and eyewitness/stormchaser accounts are starting to come in right now. Here´s an article from a flemish news website:

Check out the hail picture at the bottom of the page...

Amsterdam Schiphol airport, one of the biggest hubs in Europe, got hit by a fierce storm with gusts up to 57 kts and about 66 mm of rain. The severe threat will be shifting more towards Germany today, an early morning MCS near the North sea already produced flash flooding and hail up to 3 cm in diameter. Olivier or others, how about reports from yesterday´s activity in France? More to come...

As expected, severe storms moved across parts of Germany today. The hardest hit areas are the south and parts of the east. A bow echo moved from nern Switzerland across Lake Constance towards Munich. There are several reports of gusts over 100 km/h and damage. I just got a call from a friend of mine who was chasing this bow near Augsburg in Bavaria. He told me that there is a lot of damage to vegetation and homes probably caused by intense downbursts in the area. More information to come...

This 2nd round of severe after a night of intense storms in parts of Belgium and the Netherlands. Here are some more links to images from last night´s storms (source: weerwoord.be):

More news:
apparently, the supercell was followed by a line of storms with damaging winds, there is some talk that this might have been a derecho, however I don´t know about damage or wind reports from nrn France to confirm that this line actually met the definition (scale and number of reports) of a derecho.

In southern Germany, a wind gust of 140 km/h has been measured with the bow echo there in the early evening.
