I got a twister outside of eggville, MS today. I was tracking the storm as it came out of eggville, then went across tater hill, shiloh road and the bottom at mantachie creek. The tornado almost went right over me on highway 363. I had been watching that cell for about 20 minutes and noticed a fairly signifigant velocity couplet coming through central portions of lee county. No warning was on the cell, but you know me. I figured id go out and take a look at it anyway. Judging by the radar presentation, i expected something interesting but i was blown away to see a black tornado coming straight out of the cloud base. I got to a clearing as fast as i could and started taking pictures.

The tornado would touch ground, and you could see shingles and tree limbs flying around in it. Then sometimes it would change shape and lift, then dip right back down again. It wasnt a very strong tornado, but it had its moments.

It brought down powerlines and trees in eggville and tossed around a couple atvs near mantachie creek. The storm finally got warned about 10 minutes after the photos and continued on towards fulton. It got pretty close but i wanted to get a little closer. This is full wide angle. Might not look like it in the picture, but that tornado is right there on the treeline.

I decided the safer thing to do would be to back up a notch because there was just tons of small twigs and pieces of tree and every once in a while, it would ramp up and really start tearing things up. It rolled a huge hay cage across the field and i figured it might knock the powerlines on me or hit me with something, especially if it ramped up again.

The tornado crossed the road right in front of me with id say EF-0 winds.

Tried my best to zoom in on some of the pieces but most of them came out blurry. There is alot of tree damage along its intermittent path. I went out after the storm and there is roof damage to one house and a couple big trees sheared off at the tops. I really wanted to do some of the other storms in southern, MS but im struggling with money right now and wanted to save for tomorow. I was happy enough with what i got, but man i should have had some footage. That was just crazy, it still hasnt sunk in all the way. Ive got so many shots its hard to choose the best ones.

I was just east of Greenville during 4:04 p.m. reported tornado, but if there indeed was a tornado, it may have been up to 5-10 minutes later than reported and further ENE from Greensville than the reported 2 miles.

The footage below is begins very messily as the front overtook me too quickly where I was parked on a dirt side road connected to the service road. I stayed on the service road for the duration of the chase, most of which consists of me trying to get out and ahead of the front.

Mid way through the video, rain shifts directions suddenly on the road in front of me. About a minute later I panned the camera to the north which shows what appears to be a white funnel that dissipates fairly quickly. Perhaps this may have been what generated the report.
