5/2/08 NOW: AR / TN / MS

A wedge tornado just formed over the past minute on Brett Adair's streaming cam. It went from a string bean to a cone is no time.

The velocity values are sure showing it on the KNQA radar. He is near Parkin, AR.

**His stream went out right after it came down. It's back up now.

Two chase teams- Roger Hill and crew, and also the COD crew have seen a few large tornadoes in NE AR and NW TN- the COD crew reports serious damage and cars thrown into fields ether NW or N or Memphis.

What is that radar 'feature' currently exhibited on the cell ne of Memphis, TN? It seems to be emenating from the radar site and may be some type of 'folding' but over a number of frames it seems to split the storm into segments. Is this weather control at work? :D I've never seen this and oddly it isn't just cut and showing pieces, it actually is cut and where it is cut the reflectivity is reduced around the edges. In other words it may be going through a high reflectivity area say 60 dbz but this area is cut and where it is cut the reflectivity levels drop off. It seems to do something weird near the updraft too. What is causing this you radar experts?

PS: This is something I see on level 2 base reflectivity using Radarlab HD

There is a water tower at about 30 degrees from the RDA. That may be what is going on there. It has been scheduled to come down for the longest time.

Here are the radar images I describe above"

This region is where I grew up and I know all these highways and towns like the back of my hand, so it hurts me a tad seeing everyone else chasing there and not me. Also, been concerned about my parents in Jonesboro today, but they are fine even though a meso went right over them and spawned a tornado about 15 minutes later.
