Fox and Friends (Fox News) showed this pic on their broadcast this morning. The weatherman said they received this pic from a storm chaser who said he took it of a tornado on the ground in Van Buren Co. Arkansas during the outbreak on 4-30-10. I don't know who took the pic, but I found this same pic on a google search over a year ago and used it in a presentation.

If Fox news was being truthful, then it seems some bozo sent it to them and claimed it as their own and probably got paid for it.

EXIF info of the same image on that page says image taken in 2005 , on June 9 , at 18:34:59 with a Nikon D70 .

even in that blog there it seems to be wrong.

after more research, I found this video of June 9, 2005, by Jim Leonard, look how that tornado looks similar ???

I'm not positive on this, but I believe Allan Detrich was on the same storm in Monmouth, and actual maximum measured winds were nearly 130mph.

The National Weather Service in St. Louis has conducted damage surveys and thus far has confirmed four tornadoes from the storm south and southeast of St. Louis. One in Monroe County, IL was rated EF2, and another, in Jefferson County, MO had a path length of 17.5 miles and a maximum width of 1/3 mile.

If anybody knew the slightest bit about geography at Fox News, they would have realized that terrain did not fit the bill for Van Buren County, Arkansas.

I'll bet that Fox didn't even pay for the photo. The "photographer" probably sent it in for brief, minor fame.
