Wow. Should have paid closer attention to the 12Z OAX launch data. Beau Gerdingen called this one as the surface Td's didn't look too bad but once you start to mix down 4C H85 air, the dewpoint will go into the dumpster in a hurry. Thought it would happen but not as fast or dramatically as what the outcome was. Dave Drufke and I dinged aroung the AEL area and watched tower after tower go up and dry out to nothing but an orphan within just minutes. Finally decided to check out the line of elevated cells just to the north. Drove over to Dexter and watched as a couple of outflow dominated cells slid off to the east. Finally when TEC came by, it was able to get some clean inflow from the southeast and provided about 10 minutes of interesting motion as the LCL in the NSE dropped dramatically from the first couple of cells. This too died off and we headed back to the Minneapolis area. Small world as the infamous purple Dakota pulled up behind us on US 52. Chatted with Andrew Revering for a bit on the ham until we went our seperate ways home. Took in 3 more severe warned hailers on the way home and a fair light show. Showers on the back side of the storms prevented any good lightning shot opportunities. Still was a nice way to close out April up here and head into the real season.
