4/24/10 REPORTS: MO/AR/LA/MS/AL/TN

This chase was an emotional one, and very difficult. We had gone from pure excitement to complete and total defeat/dispair when our cell card broke. Data was hard to get to begin with, the cell card breaking then made it worse. And all we had left was GPS and weather radio. In my pissed off (and ready to cry) state, the tornado emergency came across the radio, therefor sealing my decision to head south into Durant, MS. Its eventually where we nearly drove in the side of the tornado. I'm glad the tornado was down to a high end EF1 as my truck was already close to rolling over when we were backing up away from it. Many things came together to save us and the vehicle from tipping

I finally got around to posting my video and chase account. Living in Michigan has left me on the road almost constantly since this day, and the two days I was here I was at work.

I was with Connor and was in the tornado or at least outer circulation and then hit by RFD as it crossed US61 near Valley Park, MS. I was NOT recording, a mistake I will kick myself about for a long time to come.

Here is my chase account: http://www.benholcomb.com/Chase-Accounts/20100424

It's been a few months but this event still holds a high emotional toll for me. This was easily the most memorable chase for me this year and will be something I never forget. I was, ofcourse, with Connor McCrorey on thsi day and many have seen our video already. However, We just posted our detailed written log for the first time. We decided to wait a few months and let the season calm down as we felt this log deserved our full attention as it was a high-profile event.

You can see the full log, GPS position in relation to tornado, and our video here.
