• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

4/12/09 REPORTS: TX

Easter Sunday storms

Since things were basically in my local area for today I set up the video camera and just filmed the storms developing just SW of Wichita Falls & did a timelapse of the event. Also got some nice pics of the cell that moved just North of Wichita Falls at sunset. Great colors with that storm during the "magic hour" as well as a nice rainbow. Timelapse is at http//www.holytornado.com. Jeremy Wilson also got on the storm ear sunset and witnessed hail to quarters near Lindsay TX as the brief tornado warning was going on. WE DID GET GOOD RAIN IN WICHITA FALLS...1.8 inches at my house and yes...the grass is that dead here if your wonderig about the pics....This time last year it looked like Ireland...now its more like....well Texas in Winter or Late August :-p

Started off Sunday about 3PM leaving Sherman. I felt like this might be a classic cold core setup, but wasn't really expecting to see much. Got on a storm just west of Wichita Falls that eventually wat the Tornado Warned storm in Montague County. The storm had rotated on the south end of Wichita county, but nothing impressive. Took a good coring in Clay County, then another one in Montague. I didn't get video of it, but you can see my dodge truck in front of Connor on his video.

Couple of intense moments. Rotating cloud blew right over the top of us N of Montague. Couldn't have been more than 50 ft above us. Then we got slammed with RFD.

For not expecting much it was a good day!!

Thanks to the guys at chasertv.com for working with me realtime to get my feed set up properly! It worked perfect the rest of the day.

I'll have some photos tonight

Just thought I would throw up a quick chase report from the last minute run to Cooke County. Jason and myself headed out around 5 yesterday after spotting a possible storm about 20 minutes north of our home. En route to the intercept that cell fizzled out and it seemed that things were going to be a bust. As we looked up north there was a cell growing rapidly over the Montague Co line. Upon intercept we witnessed a very large area of circulation to our west. As we moved in closer there was a nice defined wall cloud with lots of scud moving in an out of the wall cloud along with some golf ball sized hail. The NWS issued a tornado warning for our area and said it was on the ground visible by spotters, unfortunately I did not see the tornado, if one was actually there. I will add my time lapse when I get home later this week.

Juston Drake and I documented the Wichita Falls/Montague County, Texas Supercell Thunderstorm. We were positioned along the OK/TX border south of Altus, OK most of the afternoon monitoring cells at a boundary intersection along the Red River. The cells showed promise early, but were undercut by outflow, so we repositioned ESE on the cell that had been backbuilding and slowly progressing through the Wichita Falls area. This cell will be remembered most for its hail production. The storm was outflow dominant for most of its duration, but acquired great structure and a well developed mesocyclone for a brief time (~30 minutes) over Montague County, Texas. We thought there was a very short window for a tornado as a well-developed, rotating wall cloud passed north of Montague, TX. We were very close to the wall cloud with great visual and never saw evidence of tornado development. The structure was fantastic and cold outflow from a significant amount of hail in the FFD undercut the updraft and the storm had become outflow dominant again.

The hail roar was incredible at the storms peak intensity. I'll try to get some pics and a webpage up for the day on my site soon, but for now you can view a short video (YouTube) clip below:

I missed the earlier monster up near Wichita Falls, and wasn't planning on chasing at all today. Around 11 pm, I woke up to frequent lightning flashing outside my window. I looked out to see a beautiful, electrically active cell just to my North. I grabbed my gear and headed up to a local park here in Allen:

Not bad for only having to drive 5 minutes to get to my target! :D

I wasn't able to chase east of Wichita Falls and catch the nice storm there (great pics, ya'll). But, I did encounter a severe cell north of Vernon that produced the strangest hail event I've ever witnessed. Hail almost to golfball size as soft and mushy as snowballs. Not one stone was solid ice. Very odd!! Check out the video....

I also saw a nice elevated funnel north of Childress.
