Hey friends,

Any good recommendations on 360 Cameras? I know a few had the 360fly cameras. Those seem decent. Anyone else test or buy a 360 camera?? Not looking to spend thousands but maybe a few hundred?

+1 for RYLO. They make a nice piece of hardware AND the software included has gotten a lot better with time. Very intuitive these days.

Just wanted to revive this discussion about 360 degree cameras and see what has progressed since 2019. I'm planning on adding one to the roof of the Storm Ranger, but was wondering about powering, footage quality, water resistance, video recording times and how roof-mounted antennas interfere with the footage (in the frame)?

Was able to do some research. Seems the Insta360 5x is the most favored camera. It's my understand that it can run forever on a power cord w/o the battery. The big question is heat? I'm also hearing there will be a 6x out before spring chase season.

I grabbed a still showing antennas and the roof rack taken with the X4

Exposure on the X4 especially with the backlighting far from perfect, but I don't think the antennas in the view are much worse that the roof rack, excepting the CB antenna (replaced with 2m/440, CB seemed mostly dead on my trip this year). I think you could stick it on a pole if you didn't mind the drag, get it up or further away. I have seen others using pole mounts in the field.

I have not had problems with overheating, even with the battery in and running on USB power, even on the 8k setting. I expect part of that is to do with good airflow, but even on my dash it hasn't overheated yet, though I mostly use 5.7k as in handles the low light better. I do plan to upgrade to a larger sensor for that reason.
