More Pics and Flooding Video - Here
I did do a backyard chase earlier in the day and saw some broad rotation on a severe warned storm near Ozark, AR.
I also intercepted the tornado warned cell that was right behind that. As bad as visibility was with the previous storm it was even worse with the tornado warned cell. It was a pretty energetic storm but I didn't see anything more than heavy rain, strong winds (45), and some small hail. I did run across some straight line wind damage north of Caulksville. There was some more significent damage northwest of there that I didn't get to.
The main story was the heavy rains and flooding. I have never seen in person such a prolonged heavy rain event. Its still pouring now actually. Some areas will have storm totals over 10+ with widespread 3-5 inch totals through much of the northwestern 1/2 of Arkansas. Here are a few pics:
Mulberry River over Hwy 23 (the pig trail).
Road washed out by the Little Mulberry River
Mountain Home in Baxter County (north central AR) received 12 inches of rain in 36 hours! Thats about 1/4 of the average rainfall for the entire year. Some of the area rivers and streams have not been this high since 1982.
