3/10/10 NOW: OK/AR/KS/TX/MO

Next cell down from the TOR warned one also looking very nice north of Linden, TX. Looks like this area may be the main show for the next couple of hours.

There was a nice couplet on the TX/AR tor-warned cell, but that appears to have disappeared. The cell just south of it seems to be intensifying and is starting to display a hook/couplet. Is anyone down there to confirm what's going on? I don't see any video feeds or SN people in that area.

edit: NWS warning saying they are tracking a tornado near Ashdown (the north cell), moving NE @ 40 mph.
edit 2: Jeff was spot on; they backed off their original wording in the next warning text.

Watched the two SVR warned cells near and north of joplin mo as they raced by. Pretty much meh. Starting to shape up a bit on radar but visually they looked like overrated crapvection.

I would take that kind of language from an NWS warning very lightly. They tend to use that kind of language loosely. Look for wording of confirmation such as, "Law enforcement/Trained spotters/storm chasers reported/confirmed a tornado on the ground/near this city".

Neither cell looking too impressive velocity wise. Circulation on the northern storm is very broad. They could be pulsing.

Exactly. Looks great on radar - but the radar is at 10000ft or higher. Nothing from the ground in any of that storm's history.

severe warning now issued for kay county ok. ponca city. im coming upon the storm from the east about 15 miles from it. very nice looking cell!! hopefully i made the right choice on turning back toward the low!!

We just went through that core on I-35 in between Perry and Tonkawa. Pea to nickel sized hail with a few inches of accumulation on the side of the road. Nice to finally get on something severe today:eek:

just got a pic of a small funnel by cedar vale ks. on the storm east of ark city

Report of semi blown over in Cowley Co., KS

UPDATE: Gust to 56 knots at KWLD (Strother Field, between Winfield and Ark City). There is a strong swirl over Oxford, KS moving NNE to N.

The cell passing just to the South of Hot Springs, AR seems to be losing it structure some, but possibly it is cycling. Hopefully it does not hold together, as it is on track to threaten the Little Rock area in the next hour or so.

Per Jasper Co. MO dispatch spotters just reported another touchdown just west of Reeds, MO. This was at 6:11 CST.

The cell to the SW of Little Rock has really ramped up in the last 10 mins. Best looking storm of the day now.
