I was on the fence all day about chasing because early morning crap made things complicated. In the end I decided against heading out to the triple point and I originally didn’t plan on chasing at all. Around 4:00 I left work and decided to head west and give it a shot given tornado reports had already been coming in out in western MN and figured the atmosphere might throw me a bone closer to home. An outflow boundary had been laid down by morning convection just west of the Twin Cities and around 6:00 a storm finally crossed it at the right time near Brownton , MN. It produced a cone/elephant trunk tornado that lasted 5-7 minutes and then a half condensed bowl shape tornado that I didn’t get a great view of. Here are a couple pics of the first tornado. The first and second picture were taken 2 minutes apart. That’s how quickly things happened.
