I suppose I'll go ahead and get this thread started. My full chase account with pictures and video is posted on my blog (link in bio). Here's a brief summary:
I targeted the outflow boundary from the AM convection, as that was the only logical target. I headed out for Lampasas, TX. I never had much interest in the first storm that popped up, as it wasn't really getting any intensity, and it was moving away from the better environment.
I got on the Evant storm pretty early in its life cycle and watched it develop from a great vantage point in Adamsville. As it approached, I began heading north, but decided to stop and let the core pass over me to check out the hail. Got hit with a high-velocity barrage of golf balls, leaving several dents in the car, and a shattered sunroof! No big deal, these sunroofs are available from a junkyard on ebay for as little as $75, and are an easy install. I hope I'll have my replacement before the weekend.
It was a good warm-up chase to start the season! Looking forward to a great chasing season!
