A season saving day for me in what has been an awful chase year so far. I met a large hp supercell as it was moving south out of Manitoba. Initially discouraged by the ugly hp mass, which the meso seemed to be deeply imbedded in, I noticed a separate high based lp looking updraft blowing up on radar to my west. I moved south ahead of the hail hoping the storm would reorganize into a more viewable state, but instead the still rain free base to my west sort of attached itself to the hp storm. The high based updraft then began producing high-plains like tornadoes in rapid succession, really interesting to watch. These tornadoes were way removed from any precip and very easy to view.
