I was bored at home watching a lone cell going up out my window. So I decided to go do some core punching and keep up with the storms. First storm near Panhandle, TX didn't offer me much. Further south near I-40 another storm was exploding. This did give off some great updraft structure. I had a quick stop near the Pantex plant to snap a couple pics of the storm before quickly going south.
After getting ahead of the storm SE of Claude I met up with Wesley and watched as the storm kicked out several gustnadoes. After dodging the hail near Goodnight we split in Clarendon. He was going home but I wanted to see what the storm near Turkey was doing. So back into the core of the storm I went and punched through only to be slowed down by the amount of hail covering the ground. It was enough to make it really treacherous on HWY 70 north of Turkey. We found stones up to 2.25" in diameter mixed in with everything else.
After getting south of Turkey it was clear the storm was starting to gust out. So we raced ahead to Matador to enjoy the structure. This pic was taken by my girlfriend, who was with me, using her phone. I can be seen taking pics on the right.
We then went west out of Matador to enjoy THE BEST lightning barrage I've ever taken photos of. This picture is only a 20 sec shutter. In it was 7 CG strikes with some others inside the rain. So you can tell this was a very electrical storm.
