2012-05-02 REPORTS: MN

Jennifer Brindley Ubl and I chased a tornado warned supercell through the Mankato, MN area on Wednesday. We intercepted from the west on highway 60, getting on the storm just as it gained its tornado warning. It presented a nice wall cloud, and what looked like a very convincing bird fart spinup tornado, but other chasers claim it was smoke. We followed the storm for a couple hours and through a couple cell mergers with some nice gust front structure. Here's a video of the smokenado and a timelapse of our entire chase:
