2011-06-15 REPORTS: KS, TN

I actually chased this one on foot...through my parents neighborhood in Spring Hill,TN ;) around 7:00 pm or so witnessed a large shelf cloud with moderate rotation beginning to spin up a funnel...the chirping of the birds immediately stopped, the wind went completely still for a moment, then started blowing crazy hard, I ran inside to grab the camera and cell phone to call it in, but when I came back out the funnel was ascending back up into the clouds. I thought for sure it was going to put a tornado down right in our neighborhood. oddly enough our sirens didn't go off, although the storm was severe warned, I never saw any tornado warning for that cell.

and I did manage to take these gorgeous mammatus cloud pics about an hour and a half later (should have gotten the tripod out, the results would have been much better on the 24-105 f/4 lens in low light, but oh well.).
