11/29/10 DISC: TX, LA, AR, MS

Moderator Note:

Now that an apparent tornado has struck Yazoo City, MS yet again, we're going to break some of the post-storm, non-meteorological discussion of today's events off into a DISC thread, where media links and other pertinent information can be shared that might now be allowable within the confines of a FCST or NOW thread.

WAPT has spoken to the Yazoo City Port Director and just posted their interview: http://www.wapt.com/video/25954976/detail.html

He is reporting that the tornado did not have a similar path to the tornado in April and that the two tornadoes have carved an "X" through the city with their tracks. He said that although the damage does not appear to be as bad it is still very serious in nature. Many city government offices have been directly affected by this tornado but thankfully there has not been any reports of any injuries or fatalities.

Authorities in Mississippi reported 15 people hurt and homes and businesses badly damaged this morning, but no deaths.

Great news! I wonder if the lack of deaths is a result of all the in-situ research that has taken place since the first tornado.

Yazoo City Tornado has been rated an EF2 with winds of 115 MPH in the downtown area. In addition, a possible second tornado was rated EF2 with winds of 125 MPH three miles southwest of the city. I say possible as they are in two separate storm reports just filed.

Yeah you beat me to it. That would make 13 violent EF4 tornadoes this year. Also an EF4 this time of the year seems very unusual.
