11/22/2010 Northern Illinois Arial Damage Photos

Had the pleasure of checking out the damage from the Nov. 22nd tornado in northern Illinois from a plane a few days after it happened, and was impressed by what I saw. This tornado touched down about 5 miles from my house in Rockford, and I just so happened to be 850 miles away in Norman. Just my luck.

Looking west.Touched down to the left of the pic. Highway in the center is I-90.

Tree damage crossing Beloit Rd.

Interesting patterns in grain fields.

Path exiting Caledonia, IL. A few buildings completely destroyed, and a few grain bins smashed.

Just thought I would share, as I found this to be very interesting.

Its always interesting to see the ground scouring a tornado can do. Thanks for sharing!

Especially interesting to see from 3,000 feet. The patterns of debris and "suction spots" as according to Fujita's models can be easily seen. Very cool.
